My fondest Christmas memories are of running around the backyard on Christmas Eve in my pyjamas with my younger sister – too excited to sleep!
Every year my Dad would bring out his piano accordion and insist on playing a Christmas tune for us, despite the significant lack of practice (since last Christmas) and the obvious groans of protest from me and my sister (sorry Dad!). He would spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour relearning the same song he tried to play the previous year (O Come O Ye Faithful....again).
Another thing I love is the heat! And the cherries! Nothing beats an Australian Christmas of dusty feet, sunburnt backyard cricket pitches and a good old pavlova!
But above all, Christmas brings my family together; an opportunity I truly cherish and am thankful for.
