Stories we see, hear and read as children can stay with us forever. What we learn from them can shape our ideas, opinions and beliefs about life.
So we asked some 15-year-old Bella lasses what their favourite childhood movies are and why...
My favourite childhood movie would have to be The Incredibles. They were the coolest family out! I always wanted my family to have super powers so that we could go on secret missions to save the world together.
My favourite characters were Violet and Jack Jack. Violet because she was so pretty and yet she was so shy. She could just hide from anyone, which would be great for playing hide and go seek! Jack Jack was another one of my favourites because he was so cute but so cheeky and could get away with anything.
There are so many movies in contention for my favourite. Monsters Inc., UP, Toy Story and The Incredibles. I like them all for different reasons. If I really have to pick one it would be Finding Nemo. I like how he was accepted even though he was different. I've watched it so many times I can recite the lines. "Hey there Mr Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down do you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming... "
My favourite part of the movie is when he is trying to escape to the fish tank at the dentist. All the fish work together to help him escape and get back to his father. It often makes me wonder if animals really do talk to each other and hatch plans to get away from people.
My favourite character is Dory. She is very funny, always positive and so excited when she can finally remember something!
My favourite childhood movie is Cinderella. Growing up, I was always a girly girl, I loved dresses and makeup and anything glittery. I knew all the songs and used to love singing along with the movie. I remember thinking it was so magical when the fairy godmother transforms Cinderella from a servant girl into a beautiful princess. It always helped me believe that my dreams really could come true.
Even at a young age I remember thinking how kind, caring and compassionate Cinderella was and because of these qualities she was beautiful. My favourite part of the movie was of course the end when Cinderella got her Prince. I remember thinking “I can't wait to meet my Prince Charming”. I am still waiting!
I loved Princess Diaries - mostly because I remember finishing the movie and going around pretending I was a princess. I eventually believed it to the point where I had dreams that I was Princess Mia and I was one day going to become queen of Genovia. I also remember sitting there with the dress-up box trying to find the prettiest dress that could make me look like Mia. Sadly I didn't have the ultra amazing white ball gown or even the bright red one, but I continued to dream. I would sit there and pretend I was in the amazing ball gown that could make every girl beautiful.
But the main reason I loved it so much was because my big sister liked it as well - so it must be cool - and I got to spend time with her - even if we didn't speak a word to each other (apart from me asking a billion questions)! It was quality time spent with not much effort put into it. No one had to run around, no one had to do something they didn't like. It was just the presence of the other person that made it lovely.
